COVID-19 – Carpet Care During Lockdown

To supplement the video, here’s a summary of what you need to do when you spill something – remember, act as quickly as possible for the best chance of preventing a stain:

  1. Find yourself something absorbent. Some kitchen roll or an old towel are both excellent options.
  2. Use your paper/towel and blot the spill. Please don’t be tempted to rub or scrub the spill as this can damage the carpet pile. Keep blotting until there is nothing else appearing on your paper/towel.
  3. Now you need a non-foaming carpet spotter OR just plain water. We do not recommend using any other cleaning products as many will leave a soapy residue which will attract dirt, eventually creating a bigger stain.  So in the absence of a non-foaming carpet spotter, plain water is the next best thing. Spray your spotter or water liberally over the stain (or alternatively apply/blot with a sponge), and then with a clean piece of kitchen roll/towel blot the area again until you have soaked up as much as you can.

You can repeat the above 2 steps if needed. However, remember that initially the area will still likely be visible until it has fully dried. If in any doubt, please do not hesitate to call us on 01245 323989, and we will do our best to advise you over the phone.
