Carpet Cleaning Myths

“Once A Carpet Is Cleaned It Will Get Dirty Quicker!”

Over the last 15 years, there have been some major advancements in carpet cleaning knowledge and training, and cleaning equipment and products have come a long way.  In the past, carpet cleaners left shampoos and other products in your carpets after cleaning; due to the sticky residue this left, a build of up of dirt was very common, so in essence, it did feel like your carpets were getting dirtier quicker!! It’s a little bit like you washing your hair but not rinsing the shampoo out after! However, if you use today’s professional carpet cleaners, with their modern cleaning solutions and equipment, then carpets are left clean and completely residue free, so once cleaned, they will stay cleaner for much longer!

“Cleaning Will Damage Or Shrink The Carpet”

This is another common belief. Not only have cleaning equipment and products improved, but carpet manufacturing has also come a long way over the years. There is still a small chance of shrinkage if carpets are left too wet; however, Careclean’s truck-mounted machine leaves carpets much dryer than portable machines so there is virtually no change of shrinkage.  In fact, regular maintenance can actually help your carpet to perform correctly and last longer! Again, if we return to the hair care analogy, we all know how regular maintenance (a haircut!) keeps our hair looking healthier for longer… it’s the same with carpets!

If you have a large family or lots of pets, then your carpets will have heavier foot traffic; is this case, you may need to have your carpets cleaned several times a year.  However for the average family, we recommend at least once a year is sufficient. This will keep your carpets clean and your home healthy and looking great!
